As part of this growth plan, Ujjivan needs to hire a ‘CTO – Chief Technology Officer’ who can provide strategic vision and technical leadership for the Information Technology needs of the Microfinance Business

Key Accountabilities: The CTO would report into the Chief Executive Officer of Ujjivan and oversees the IT needs of the Microfinance Business

Hiring Specifications:

  • The MF business requires the incumbent to be hands on in understanding the business and its customer base, and translating business needs into efficient IT vision & roadmap
  • The CTO will need to be able to understand and work within the constraints of a growing MF organization
  • Familiarity with managing outsourced systems in terms of applications and networks
  • Working in a multi location organizational set up will also be desirable.


Experience and Qualification:

  • Masters degree or higher in related technical field with 8 - 10 years of technology experience and related management experience
  • Strong knowledge of relevant applications and development of life cycles, general knowledge of professional services vendors, and tools and experience overseeing geographically distributed and culturally diverse work-groups
  • Strong negotiation skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, knowledge of  business and technology trends and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Candidates must have extensive experience working with the following technologies:
    • Linux  
    • SQL - MySQL and/or Oracle
    • Other supporting front end software & report writing / generating software


Responsibilities:

  • To create technology vision and definition of the future platforms required to support the enterprise
  • Assess current IT infrastructure, and evolve tactical and strategic IT plans
  • Managing the entire technology infrastructure at Head Office, Regional Office and Branches
  • Application package evaluation and selection, database management, net work communications, end user computing and operations delivery
  • To guide, supervise and monitor day to day operations at Ujjivan Data Centre

  • Licenses
  • Manage the usage of software and data base licenses in a cost effective manner including the promotion of freeware / open system software
  • System performance/Optimizing / forecasting system performance at minimum cost with continuous eye on organization growth targets and system needs
  • Capital purchases
  • Champion proposals for capital investments in technology
  • Core software - Manage core software to ensure / meet required SLAs with users
  • Manage network availability and quality to meet required SLAs with users
  • Staffing & Training
      • Communication with the user groups on departmental priorities, new initiatives and future technologies of interest
      • To provide advice and technical support to various users / departments regarding specific operational / applications issues.
      • Ensure availability of adequately trained and qualified personnel at all times to meet performance requirements of the business at all levels of the business.
    • Risk Management
      • Formulate and draft policy and procedures for IT functions at Ujjivan
      • Ensure IT environment is audited at regular intervals, and security concerns of the
      • System / network is maintained at acceptable levels.


Location: Position would be based out of Bangalore Head Office and would involve travel to Branch offices and Regional offices across the country.
