When we look at the challenges we face as a planet, we recognize that poverty is at the root of nearly all of them. During the 2008 Tour, we chose to work with Unitus—an organization that is boldly tackling these challenges by supporting equality, empowerment, and dignity for the world’s poor.

Unitus is thrilled to announce that it has been selected as the charitable partner for the 2008 Police Tour. The recently announced tour extension is scheduled for twenty-one North American and eight European dates starting May 1 in Ottawa, Canada, and culminating on July 5 at New York’s Jones Beach. Joining The Police during their 2008 tour are fellow rockers Elvis Costello and The Imposters.

The Police Tour is proud to support Unitus and its mission to fight global poverty by accelerating access to microfinance for millions of hard-working poor families around the globe. Their support will provide Unitus supporters with an exclusive opportunity to bid on front row tickets and VIP packages unavailable to the general public at www.charityfolks.com/thepolice starting April 7, 2008, or by attending one of several live auction events throughout the U.S. Proceeds will directly support Unitus’s work and mission.

Ticket packages will include pairs of front row tickets, access to sound check, backstage tours, and concert tour programs signed by the band.
